Tulips traced in beeswax, pressed into Stradbroke Island sand, and held while molten silver or solid gold fills every line the wax drew. The pour locks it — petal, texture, and the particular mark the sand left behind — into metal that will outlast everything around it.

The mould is destroyed after every cast. The wax is gone. What sits on your hand existed once in that form, and only once.
